Tax day is almost upon us and that always makes me think of stories people tell trying to get our of paying taxes. Those are not the stories I specialize in, and neither should you. The truth for business and stretching it for fun. Short post this month as I work to convert this page to a blog format so that updates will be more frequent and allow some responses from you.
A reminder, April is also the month for the Connecticut Storytelling Festival in New London Connecticut. I do not tell at that event because I work for the Festival, but I will be around all weekend so if you come make sure you say hello. Check out the website www.connstorycenter.org for all details. If you do come be sure to take a 25% discount on admission to any and all events, just say you know me! Thanks to Panera Bread and Enterprise Rent-A-Car for their generous donations to the Festival this year. Their contributions help us keep the prices down so more people can attend.
Monthly Tip: Business Story
Short and sweet! Two minutes is tops for a story length. Time it you can say a lot in two minutes and if you don't say it well that two minutes will seem interminable to your listeners. If you tell a great story you still don't want to monopolize a business meeting so make sure to keep it short and let others join in. You never know your story may trigger great memories or ideas for them, give them and opportunity to share.
