Are You Connected?
By Carol Mon
Networking, probably the single most important marketing tool we have. Do we do all we can? Many of us join professional groups within our disciplines. If that is all we do, we miss some great opportunities elsewhere. As an example: I do volunteer work at The UCONN Medical Center’s Creative Childcare Center. The director was looking for a different kind of workshop for a staff meeting. I proposed a shortened keynote on how we all positively affect each others lives, even if we don’t know it. She liked the idea and so at the next staff meeting I presented and then led a discussion. Working as a volunteer led to a paying gig and who knows how many more referrals to come.
The volunteer work really can be anything. Take another look at volunteering for something outside of your chosen profession. It just might be the best marketing tool you use this year.
