Which One To Pick?
By Carol Mon

Often we struggle trying to pick the right story to tell.  One of the more important factors should be do YOU like it.  Telling a story and finding the hidden lessons or applicability to your audience is always easier if it is a story that interests you.

Once you find a story that you like, the next thing to look at is does it fit your goal.  What is your goal, to amuse, to inform, to inspire?  Don't force it.  A story should flow in the context of your speech and/or in your telling.  No matter how much you like a story if it is not relevant to your audience you will lose their attention.  Practice your material on trusted colleagues.  Better they should hear you at your worst than paying clients.

If your stories meet both of the criteria listed, your performance is sure to be a success.
